iPad vs Slate

The iPad has been out for a couple of months now; there are people that love it and now people that regret buying it.   Most were expecting a pretty ended internet experience browsing whatever sites they wanted to but that isn't the case.  Without Flash support, the experience is less then spectacular.  It seems that Apple wants your experience to be a narrow minded ride on their own theme park.   Personally, the price should be more feasible if that were the case, you are restricted to the content they want you to enjoy.   If you have kids, this would be a good thing as Apple wants family quality content.   But with the absence of flash,  Youtube is not going to happen.

HP was releasing the Slate in a few weeks, it was going to run a slimmed down version of Windows 7 (but with the acquistition of Palm, WebOS) while boasting more cpu and storage for 550 USD.   With a 1.6 ghz compared to the 1.0ghz of the Apple iPad, that will be pretty nice experience for a tablet user, Storage will start off with 32 Gigs with an optional upgrade to 64 Gigs.   What is impressive is the additional features available as standards,  2 cameras, one facing in VGA and the other out (3MP).  Sim card slot for mobile WAN access using cell phone networks, SD Card reader, and a USB port to hook up an external Hard drive or DVD drive.

Now with the WebOS, the Slate is now called the Hurricane, the specs will most likely be similar as the above.  My opinion, I am willing to state that the USB port will be removed, and possibly one of the cameras.  If the price stays the same after that, I wouldn't touch it if it were free.
