Ed Craig relieved of his duties.. but wait!

With a full room of spectators and a full plate on the City Council agenda, the matter of Ed Craig's City Manager's position is on the line.   With 4 votes against him, by Jean Pruitt, Al Stephenson, Lee Roy Cunningham, and Thomas Landers, his contract would not be renewed.   Therefore, he would recieve 6 months of his pay that is left on his contract and continue his insurance benefits.   But, here is the wait, in a closing statement, Ed Craig gave a moving speech regarding Shelbyville's continued growth with a ending that gave a brief gasp out of a few of the onlookers.  Ed Craig stated, "While I am saddened by the decision of the city council, I am going to resign as the City Manager of Shelbyville TN, effective immediately.'

I expected to see more upset individuals at the meeting, but while I talked to a few, I was shocked that most agreed with the decision.
