It's cold outside...Al Gore must be crazy

It's been unusually cold the last few weeks. I guess since January doesn't feel like July, and it actually still even snows sometimes in the winter, all this global warming stuff must be a bunch of B.S. Right? Plus, Sean Hannity said on Fox news the other night that "2009 was the coldest year on record." So I did some research. Fact is, 2009 is the 5th warmest on record...oops. Another fact is that the last decade was the warmest our planet has ever been. The warmest before that was the 1990's. So, earth is definitely getting warmer, but there is still the argument of whether or not this is being caused by human emissions.

For some reason, this seems to have become a political issue. You would think that making our planet a cleaner and better place to live for future generations would be something that Republicans and Democrats could finally agree on, but that's not the case. Almost every climate change debate always seems to include the name Al Gore. And since Al Gore is a Democrat, and has devoted climate change as his number one cause...well, Republicans just can't get on board that train. Agree with the other side? That would be crazy! Besides, most global warming scientists have said that the poop won't really hit the fan until 50 years from now. We'll all be dead by then anyway. Let's just call climate change a "big hoax." That's better than agreeing with someone like Al Gore!

Should politics really be so ingrained in every facet of a persons life? If you don't believe in a persons political views, do we then also reject anything that that person will ever say or do? I don't agree with the political views of Ted Nugent. In fact, I think he is a total right-wing nut-job. But, I also think he is a awesome guitar player. I didn't bust my "Free for All" CD into a million pieces or melt down my "Cat Scratch Fever" LP after watching his demented appearances on The Glenn Beck show. I still love his music despite our political differences.

The issue of climate change is too important to be skewed by politics. Anyone who says that global warming is a hoax either (1) has not done any real research on it, (2) are just repeating a falsehood from Fox News, or (3) just hate Al Gore and Democrats so much that they would rather continue to pollute the earth than agree with them.

I think our grand-children deserve more than that from us.
